Decidedly woody on the nose with a lot of fruit laying in wait, this develops a feral, earthy character with black and blue fruits that recalls Syrah with it's meaty undertones. In the mouth this is tight with excellent focus to the core of very ripe, spicy, tobacco toned fruit that has a nice streak of chalk running through the mid-palate leading to a finish with some distracting, bitter wood tannins. The finish is very crisp and clean and ends on a bright blackberry coulis note. Still very youthful this is a rich wine packed with dense fruit and excellent balance. 92pts

Not as rich as the Cote a Cote 2006, this wine is more restrained as well. Still a little too youthful, and showing in its tightness and stronger tannins. Finishes on tannins with walnut flavors.

Rich nose of red berry and baking spice. The flavors on the palate follow with vibrant acid and fruit. It's dominated by red fruit. It's ripe and jammy but retains nice balance. It's luscious and decadent, but doesn't step over the line. A good "fruit bomb" in my opinion. 2/18/12

A classic Bordeaux style blend, with lots of nice mocha notes and a dark quality from the petit verdot.

($85; 52% syrah, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 8% petit verdot) Opaque ruby. Deep, smoky aromas of blackcurrant, cherry-cola, black pepper, vanilla, tobacco and smoked meat. Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Robert Parker: ...50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Syrah, and 5% Petit Verdot... Reminiscent of a northern Rhone blended with a Bordeaux, it exhibits sweet cassis, graphite, and a chalky, powdery minerality, good structure, and full body. As the wine sits in the glass, hints of espresso roast and white chocolate emerge. This structured, slightly backward, well-endowed 2006 should age effortlessly for 10-15 years. (Aug 2009)
