Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé Brut NV

Winemaker's Notes:

Aspect: Salmon-pink in colour. Aroma: Precise and very crisp with a lasting impression of freshness, it has hints of soft red fruits, such as strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries and black cherries. Taste: Intensely fruity flavours begin clean and well-defined upon entry, the wine then opens up to provide a melange of flavours consisting of fresh strawberries, raspberries and wild cherries. It has great length and is rounded and supple on the finish. Serving: The Cuvée Rosé makes a delicious apéritif. It pairs very well with charcuterie and poultry, and is an extraordinary match for red fruit desserts. The more daring will try it with Asian cuisine.

Founded in 1812, Laurent-Perrier is recognised - throughout the world - as one of the finest of Champagne Houses. This success derives, first and foremost, from a clear determination to abide by long-established traditions: respect for nature and wine, dedication to quality, and strong and lasting relationships with all those associated with the company, within and without. It is also the result of the sheer driving force of Bernard de Nonancourt, the creator of the Laurent-Perrier range, and that of his daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie, who are concentrating their own energies on preserving the Group’s independence and perpetuating its values. Nose of rose petals, aggressive bibles, but sweet red berry fruits, nice finish

Almost dry, with the freshest of apple and grapefruit characters, a lively layer of mineral and lime, and a delicate character. This is a crisply delicious, aperitif style of Champagne.

This honey- and apple-inflected sparkler is medium-bodied, with richness midpalate. On the soft side, with a straightforward appeal. Drink now.

Fairly pale color. Complex, soil-inflected, smoky nose combines pineapple, peach, apricot, rose petal, cinnamon and mace; reminded me of Condrieu. Fresh and ripe in the mouth, with impressively intense flavors of fruits and spices. Finishes strong and spicy, with a late note of pink peppercorn.

This starts out rich and open-knit before turning sharp with straightforward apple and citrus flavors. Decent length though, so fans may want to give it some time in the bottle. Drink now through 2007.

Mature mushroom and toast nose. Brisk mouthfeel. Flavors are mostly citrusy, but a definite cherry note slips in. Full, with decent length; fruity in a dry, reserved way.

Small and frequently overshadowed in the American market, Laurent-Perrier enjoys a wide appreciation internationally for their delicately framed, elegant Champagne. The NV Brut is near ethereal, with very fine bubbles and subtle citrus and marzipan flavors that turn creamy toward the finish. Makes a perfect kickoff for any holiday entertaining, or serve well-chilled with cold fish and seafood.

Balance and elegance are the hallmarks of this lively, rich-tasting Champagne. Crisp acidity supports the light, bright fruit flavors and marries with nice doughy, spicy notes on the finish. Could be aged through 1996.
