What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Winemakers Notes

Zinfandel's charm is it's spicy ripe flavors and aromas of red berries and jammy black fruits. Our Zinfandel represents all of those qualities. Aromatically the wine has all the spice elements that one looks for in a Zinfandel with a hint of bramble that represents our new American oak barrels. The palate is loaded with juicy flavors of black currants and cinnamon that are bound to the wine's luxurious tannins.

This Zin shows nicely because it has many Zin like characteristics. It's very jammy (think Blackberry) but also shows some caramel and peanut butter up front. YUM The flavor profile follows through but also offers up some salty pistachio nuts or pretzels as well. I like this wine alot. In fact, it's making me hungry.

I love this wine. My family has it every year with Thanksgiving--it's perfect for winter-y squashes, turkey with gravy, and all those heavier favorites. Its jammy-ness is a good complement to cranberry foods and sauces. It's also just amazing on its own.

A very fine Zin from a relatively unknown winery. Lots of jammy black currant and fruit forward. This is not one of your mass-produced big winery type wines. It's a real wine made by a small production winery. Get some while you can.
