Latricieres Chambertin Louis Jadot 94 Jg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Good bright dark red. Wonderful mineral tang lifts the complex aromas of raspberry, cherry, pomegranate, coffee, pepper and spices. Fat, sweet and deep, with the piquant minerality and a peppery element giving lift and energy to the middle palate. Notes of candied strawberry and raspberry are complicated by saline soil tones. Powerfully structured wine with long, bright finishing flavors that saturate the sides of the mouth...93-95" IWC 1/12 "There are only three barrels in 2010 of the Louis Jadot Latricières-Chambertin, which was purchased as grapes and vinified by the domaine. This is a great bottle in the making, as it offers up a very deep and complex nose of black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, beautiful soil tones, a touch of venison, woodsmoke and a fine base of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with great nascent complexity, ripe, but very fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and balance and a very long, tangy and transparent finish. This is a great wine...94+" John Gilman, A View from the Cellar 12/11 "An elegant and distinctly cool and restrained nose features a pretty array of floral and stone notes on the wonderfully complex and layered red berry fruit and plum aromas. The same sense of refinement inculcates the intense and highly energetic medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a penetratingly mineral-driven and explosively long finish. The hallmark youthful austerity is present in spades and this enjoys one of the longest finishes of the entire range. In sum, this is most impressive in a decidedly understated fashion...93-95" BH 04/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines.
