Maple bacon, mincemeat pie and, rare grilled steak on the nose edged with cherry pie drippings, creosote and earth. Big in the mouth with integrated acidity and tannin. A touch soft but with nice fresh fruits and just a sprinkling of cracked pepper. A bit tauter on the finish with nice focus and good depth if lacking a bit of complexity, though there are nice grace notes of ground coffee and licorice on the finish. Fine value though it could use a year to relax. Drink 2010-2017 89pts

Deep and earthy with fairly dark toast and oak spice notes then turning plummy with a mineral and eucalyptus top notes. Slowly yields some floral tones and pomegranate notes with a touch of pink peppercorn, but the air doesn’t really helps this as it closes up quite a bit over the course of the tasting. Muscular yet lean with good tension in the mouth and a decidedly dark, earthy and lightly spicy character. There is a core of reticent black plum and minor black berry fruits. With a bit of vanilla on the finish white turns thick and a bit heavy recalling dried dates with a spicy white pepper note on the finish. A bit going at the moment but this seems to have the potential to improve 88pts

Bacon's on my mind, a little cheese and meat, power smokehouse, like a mill that churns out glorious carcasses and hides, i feel like a carnival midget might pop out a trap door and glaze the palate with tangy bbq sauce.

Very rich and fruity nose, a touch of white pepper as well. This is a meaty Syrah - very fleshy. Its rich, thick, fruity and in your face - but thats what the California sun does best! The pepper continues through to the finish, which also has notes of lilac as well as plums, cherries and other baked fruits.

Thick, slightly hot and very fruity nose. Palate is warm and syrupy, not too tannic but there's a nice bit of spice, somewhere between cinnamon and pepper. This is a lively, frolicking little wine, a great kick on the finish if you take a nice gulp.

Extremely spicy nose with a rich dark purple color. It's a delicate spice bomb with a great long finish. Enough spice to get my attention and enough complexity to keep me interested. Really dig this wine.

Very powerful, muscular bottle, with tomato pincage, smoke, and pancetta on the nose. Char-grilled steak, spices, and cooked cabbage round out the palate, with ridiculously smooth tannins, well-balanced acidity, and a beautifully long finish.

Incredibly dark color. Not too much fruit on the nose, but a bit of blackberry and maple syrup. Lots of subtle complexities, but overall this is a very big wine. A very interesting drink.

Second tasting. Nose is a bit light on the fruit. A bit of a harsher bite of tannin to start. Maybe a bit of herbs and spice. Medicinal, eucalyptus, menthollated.

Look no further, it's in here. The nose speaks of a NY Strip steak with red and green peppercorns. I love the meaty and peppery aromas that are followed by the scent of rosemary. Who needs dinner? This Syrah is unlike most that you've had, but if you enjoy a gripping good time, get on this. The palate offers a distinct smokiness, and an undeniable seasoning salt aspect. The mouth feel is more direct, not as rounded, but very intriguing. I'd pair it with a steak, for sure!

I love this wine for that fact that is full of complexities as well as the fact that it carries flavors that are unique and very attractive. I found chocolate, and the mouth feel was very pleasant. I highly recommend.

Roll up your sleeves...cause it might get bloody in here! Wow! Right off the bat aromas of a bloody, meaty steak hit me. Like almost a raw steak, for real. It's so interesting and intriguing! There is also a hint of saltiness in there as well... The taste throws in some spice, and a smokey/ashey component. This wine tosses fruit to the side with hardly a trace to be detected, but that ain't a bad thing, this Syrah is tough!

This Syrah is in your face and certainly not shy! The nose is salty bacon and fresh blood aromas. I'm a little taken aback, but not in a bad way somehow! There is no sweetness in this wine, so steer clear if you like a fruity sweet Syrah! Flavors of smoke, cedar and bacon envelope my tongue, and the finish is woodsy cedar tones. A great glass of wine for those who seek adventure and who aren't afraid of the dark or heights! Enjoy!
