Food Pairings for Latour Vineyards Syrah Mt. Veeder
On the nose, peppery meatiness with a bit of forest floor and latent dark berry. On the front of the tongue, a good mix of red and dark berries and smoke leading to a mid-palate of good juicy dark berries with a hint of raisins and bacon and a touch of eucalyptus, and on the back of the palate a mix of peppered meats, dark berries and eucalyptus, and just a hint of vanilla and butter. This wine has a seemingly never-ending peppery finish. While the tannins in this wine are fairly smooth, there is enough presence to indicate that this wine still has quite a few years left to it.
The inky purple color hints at the depth and richness of this Syrah. Classic aromas of pancetta and black pepper are followed by plum and blackberry jam flavors and a lingering finish. It's like a ballet dancer -- muscular and powerful yet elegant. Pair it with grilled lamb rubbed with rosemary and enjoy.
