Editorial Reviews for Latour Vineyards Chardonnay Mt. Veeder
This wears its oak proudly with deep buttery, popcorny, toffeed notes on the nose with an underlying core of almost tropical, pineapple fruit. In the mouth this is rich and a bit viscous with nice balance to the smoky, nutty oak tones and tropical fruit that hints at an almost tangerine tone. A big wine but well balanced for the style. 89pts
Some light green apples on the nose. Some oak and spice in the mouth. I'm not a fan of white wines, but this one is delicious.
Green apple at first, which develops a vanilla mask. Feels healthy and refreshing!
Lots of oak and toffee apples on the nose. A rich, powerfully oaked, big, fat chardonnay. Very creamy and incredibly spicy. If you like Napa Chard, then you'll like this. Tasted against an unoaked Chard and it really divided the camps. This was my pick.
Rich buttery nose, with french vanilla and almond. Good spice from the oak. Theres a lot of fruit to balance this oaky wine - crisp green apples and some softer peach notes as well. Very nice example of a Napa Chard

I am a fan of pleasant surprises. This Chardonnay was quite pleasant, as it steers away from the buttery and over-oaked aspects of many traditional Chardonnays and hits you with some originality from start to finish. The nose is a blend of cotton-candy, green apples, and cider, very candy-licious but in a genuine way. There are flavors of cedar and green bananas, with apple cider making another appearance. This wine would be fantastic with food, but it is also terrific all by its lonesome. A delightfully independent offering from LaTour, buy some and try some!
The classy 2005 vintage speaks eloquently in this Chardonnay. Appealing lemon creme and spiced aromas are layered with ripe tropical fruit flavors. This richness is balanced beautifully with a taut ping of acidity. Drink alongside grilled salmon or with soft, creamy cheese.
When I was in middle school it was very popular to have candy and snacks on your person at all time and I went through a phase where my treat-of-choice was those Caramel Apple Suckers by Charms. DELICIOUS And that's exactly where this wine starts out for me. Green candy apple and caramel whisk you away to younger days and as you continue to inhale there is an interesting lit matchstick component. Enticing. On the palate the flavors are well rounded starting off with pineapple and bananas that lead into a very interesting finish. . . it's like salted cashews. Another favorite treat of mine. Not your traditional Chard, but delightful nonetheless.
LaTour is clearly a wine brand to keep your eye. The flavors and aromas are so unique and left of center it's like a breath of fresh air in the wine world. Their Syrah surprised me and this Chardonnay follows suit! Smells of banana meets corn in pineapple's backyard are apparent... the taste elevates from there by incorporating elements of almond nuttiness and even a hint of marzipan! Wow! Good stuff!
