Latour Chardonnay(2005)

The classy 2005 vintage speaks eloquently in this Chardonnay. Appealing lemon creme and spiced aromas are layered with ripe tropical fruit flavors. This richness is balanced beautifully with a taut ping of acidity. Drink alongside grilled salmon or with soft, creamy cheese.

I am a fan of pleasant surprises. This Chardonnay was quite pleasant, as it steers away from the buttery and over-oaked aspects of many traditional Chardonnays and hits you with some originality from start to finish. The nose is a blend of cotton-candy, green apples, and cider, very candy-licious but in a genuine way. There are flavors of cedar and green bananas, with apple cider making another appearance. This wine would be fantastic with food, but it is also terrific all by its lonesome. A delightfully independent offering from LaTour, buy some and try some!

When I was in middle school it was very popular to have candy and snacks on your person at all time and I went through a phase where my treat-of-choice was those Caramel Apple Suckers by Charms. DELICIOUS And that's exactly where this wine starts out for me. Green candy apple and caramel whisk you away to younger days and as you continue to inhale there is an interesting lit matchstick component. Enticing. On the palate the flavors are well rounded starting off with pineapple and bananas that lead into a very interesting finish. . . it's like salted cashews. Another favorite treat of mine. read more...
