Lascombes Margaux 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

Clear red/black color. Huge nose with roasted coffee, mocha, vanila and blackcurrant. I used a lot of time just sniffing this - although it is primarily the oak that dominates right now, the aromas are very good. On the palate the wine is completely different, earthy and holding back, giving some blackcurrant. Good structure and the fruit grows on the palate. Good lenght with some coffee and dark chocolate towards the end. Very modern style Bordeaux, unfortunately the nose promises more than the taste can deliver.

Château Lascombes:
Chateau Lascombes. a Margaux ranked second growth in the 1855 classification, bears the name of its first owner, Chevalier de Lascombes. born in 1625.

The 2000 was the finest Lascombes produced in over three decades, and the 2001 continues the great success this estate is enjoying under the guidance of Yves Vatelot (of Chateau Reignac) and Dr. Alain... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2001 Lascombes 750ml
