What to Expect

Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshingly crisp white wine that offers citrus and tropical fruit flavors with very aromatic notes of green chilies, grass, herbs, asparagus and gooseberries commonly contributing to the bouquet. Sauvignon Blanc is generally unaoked allowing the fruit to shine and highlighting the delicacy of the grape.

Winemakers Notes

2006 Sauvignon Blanc Our second bottling of Sauvignon Blanc builds upon the great inaugural vintage with an extra layer of aromatic and structural power. We are very proud of this dynamic bottling. Winemaker Notes: "A light green/straw color precedes explosive aromatics of citrus rind, grapefruit and honeysuckle. The palate is bright, zesty and energetic. Flavors of clementine and ripe melon surround a tight core of honeyed minerals and deep fruit extract. The mid-palate is creamy and textured and balanced by prominent chalky acidity which lifts the finish. Serve at no cooler than read more...

Reviews

Tropical fruit nose and medium acidity with a smooth herbaceous quality. Very crisp and refreshing. This would go great with a nice powerful cheese!

Full disclosure: Tasted at the vineyard on a beautiful day tranquil day, sublime setting and a private tour of the facilities. With that said...

A great fruity nose yet very mineral and steely. Fruit notes were peach and nectarines. A nice spicy finish with some tropical fruits there too. Some good acidity keeps it very refreshing. A really great SB - almost enough to turn away from chard.

As noted in the winemaker's notes - this wine has legs for a California Sauvignon Blanc. Tasted at a dinner party against a 06 Sancerre, the Larkmead strutted its stuff - an austere, intense wine with heady aromatics, hefty mid-palate and a structured, acidic finish that will help the wine continue to age gracefully. Still has a few more years in the bottle.

Grassy mineral nose. Flavors of apples, peach and other stone fruit play well with the firm acidity. There's a touch of floral and peach on the finish. Judicious use of oak. High alcohol really adds to the viscous velvety texture.
