Great bargain cab from the Rapel Valley in Chile. Strong hints on the nose and palate of strawberries and other dark berries, cassis and some nice tannins which should ensure the decade age-worthiness the label claims.
Very nice nose and a fairly long finish. Very good inexpensive cab.

Very nice wine. Round and full, nice fruit, nice mid palette, great nose of black cherry, white pepper, and even a little blueberry. Smooth and a long interesting finish with great mouth feel.
A LOT of strawberry on the nose and pallet, very enjoyable. Definitely some good tannins, could be worth aging a bit. Finishes on some spicy/earthy notes to me, but discreet.
External Reviews for Lapostolle Merlot
Ripe and packed, especially for the vintage, with gorgeous blackberry, blueberry and fig fruit flavors liberally laced with bittersweet cocoa and Turkish coffee notes. Muscular but rounded, with briar and mineral notes buried deep on the fleshy finish. Impressive combination of density and purity. Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2010 through 2016.
Here is an award-winning Bordeaux blend based on the Carmenère variety, which used to be widely planted in Bordeaux and now thrives in Chile. The wine is made from the estate's oldest vines, the berries picked and de-stemmed by hand for the highest possible quality. A big and age-worthy red wine.
Wine Tasting NotesIntense red ruby color. An expressive nose with elegant aromas of red fruits like ripe strawberries and currant. In mouth the "attaque" is perfumed with red and black fruits, such as blackberries and cherries. In the medium palate this elegant wine is supported by a really good structure with fine and delicate tannins. The end of mouth is persistent and suggests coffee notes.
A mouthfilling wine, with explosive richness, nicely integrated oak, smooth tannins and very long finish.
