Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Always a good value in Chardonnay from one of Chile's top producers. Very clean and precise with nice hints of peach, melon and a touch of toast. In a class with many California Chardonnays that cost twice as much.

Lovely elegance here, with the toast and hazelnut notes playing second fiddle to the fig, pear and quince fruit. Stylish, juicy finish shows fine length. Drink now through 2003.

The 2005 Chardonnay ldquo;Cuvee Alexandre ndash; Atalayas Vineyardrdquo; is a refined wine with nuances of vanilla, buttered toast, butterscotch, and tropical fruit flavors along with well-integrated oak. This nicely balanced, layered wine should drink well for the next 18ndash;24 months.

In a bold, toasty style, with notes of nutmeg, pie crust and pear tartine, but has the acidity to pull it off. Good job.

Very stylish, with nice underlying richness as the suave toast melds into the pear tartine, Jonagold apple and floral notes. The long, creamy finish has nice lingering minerality. Drink now through 2010.

Focused and elegant, with deceptive length and power, this lets lush apple, pear, fig and toast notes stretch along languidly, yet never becomes tiring to drink. Well done. Drink now through 2006.

Light to medium-bodied and silky textured, the 2003 Chardonnay Cuvee Alexandre Atalayas Vineyard offers aromas of spiced pear and vanilla. Fresh apple, pear and oak notes are found in its expressive, well-crafted core. Drink it over the next year.

This is a ripe and moderately toasty white, exhibiting flavors of creamy fig, pear and brioche, followed by a lush finish that shows a lingering note of hazelnut. Drink now. 10,638 cases made.
