Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Carmenere 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep ruby. Hints of dark and red cherries with a spicy touch of black pepper, making for some complexity. Nice freshness and bright acidity resulting in a juicy wine with a very good finish. Wine lovers a little tired of cabernet and merlot need to try this well-made *carmenere*.

Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle brought French winemaking practices to Chile, where she was a pioneer in leading the development of fine quality wines. More redux, light grassy top note, little sweet toasty spice, plummy, spicy with a hint of sweet spices and a suggestion of pepper. Soft on the palate and loose, aromatic in the mouth. Nice violet, mulberry fruit. Perfumed up front then not a huge finish, juicy on the back end. 85pts

WineMaker's Tasting Notes: Color: Deep violet color with purple hints. Nose: Intense and complex nose full of aromas: white pepper and red fruit at the start, then prunes and black cherries with some hints of sweet spices. Palate: Juicy tannins with soft structure and balance; fresh fruit flavors at the finish. Service and Food Pairing: Serve from 16° C (60° F) to 18° C (64° F). The ideal companion for pastas, pork and grilled red meat.

A perennial Best Buy Cab. The nose is smoky and rock-solid, with clean berry fruit and muscle. The palate is lively and secure, with balance, firm tannins, proper acidity and a tasty mix of cocoa, herbs and berry fruit. Finishes on the spot.
