Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2008
Tiefe, intensive purpurrote Farbe.
Lapostolle was founded by the legendary family behind Grand Marnier. Alexandra Marnier-Lapostolle brought French winemaking practices to Chile, where she was a pioneer in leading the development of fine quality wines. The winery uses organic and biodynamic practices, and the wines are consistently rated 90+ points. Most recently, Wine Enthusiast named Lapostolle “New World Winery of the Year” in 2008.
a little more round, spice and currant characteristics
I normally like Carmenere wines but this falls horribly flat at the end. Tasted at Geneva wine tasting 4/18/2010.
This wine was nice and layered. Very tasty. - WS Grand Tour 2011
Nice Chardonnay a little more 'toasty' on the back than I wanted...but I do want to try this again
i am lost to as why it is described as a 'dessert' wine. not at all, but a solid, dinner wine.
Complex, red fruit and cherry yields to prune with a backdrop of oak. Finishes with slight chalk. Tannins are well structured but slightly overbearing. Melliws well with some air to make a fine table wine.
Consistently an amazing wine. this one is a little young, but based on the track record of the wine, I am sure will show its stuff in a few years.

I always love a good Carménère. The best ones are full-flavored without being overly heavy, and have lots of lovely layers of spice and herbaceous notes on top of the rich black fruit. And when I'm looking for a terrific Carménère for under $15, the Casa Lapostolle has always been my first choice. The pepper and cloves are pretty powerful, but there are lots of deep currant and black cherry notes, and the result is complex and intriguing, rather than unbalanced. My favorite pairing is spicy paella with lots of green and red peppers, but I can easily see pairing this with barbecued chicken or Polish sausage, and it's excellent with grilled vegetable-based dishes as well.
Carmenere was originally a blending grape in Bordeaux, but since its arrival in Chile it has really evolved and stands alone as a varietal. This wine from Casa Lapostolle is very impressive! It has a beautiful crimson red color, and aromas of dark fruit and spice that jump out of the glass. Pronounced flavors of black cherries and blackberries abound, with a long, gorgeous finish laced with spice and earth. Although the wine is dense, it is soft on the palate and nicely balanced. Drink this wine with braised lamb shanks.
This round, fresh and stylish Chardonnay from the Casablanca Valley is a step up from the middling 2000 version. The bouquet yields ample pear, almond and coconut aromas, while the palate is loaded with pear fruit and a hint of oak-driven smoke. Classy and concise, and better made than almost every other similarly priced Chardonnay.
Plump, with medium-weight pear, apple and toast flavors and a nice round finish. Drink now.
Ripe pear, apple and toast flavors, with a faint earthy note on the medium-weight finish. Drink now.
The candied grapefruit-scented 2003 Chardonnay is a pleasing, thirst-quenching wine. Its slightly tart flavors of apples and grapefruits also display a note of spiciness. This light to medium-bodied wine should be drunk over the next year.
