smooth and filled with berries at first and then a kick of spices and cloves with a meaty tannic finish, has amazing potential to age longer
Dark fruit aromas, blackberry, black cherry, black currants with a touch of spice. On the palate heavy dark fruit, full textured body, some leather and cedar notes, tannic structure well, a little meaty, loads of darkness, hot cocoa, some heat, would be amazing with steak night.

bottle says it can age for 10 years... thats questionable to say the least. This wine isnt bad, dirty nose, bark, stone, plummy. For the $ its a solid pick.
I can't quite remember exactly how this bottle tasted (no, I didn't black out from getting shit-faced) as it was awhile ago and I never reviewed it sooner. Other than the label, the wine doesn't stick out in my memory too much; therefore, I know it was a good bottle of wine but not the best...this review isn't helpful at all.
Good solid Cab. Tight structure, nicely balanced - not too tannic. Cherry/berry fruit with hints of coffee bean/cocoa. Nice clean finish. Let it breath a for a bit. A steal at under 10 bucks.
I picked up this 2007 cabernet based on there great 2004 syrah I had a chance to try and was intrigued by the quality of the cuvee alexander series. The smell is very nice ripe berries with a very creamy oakiness, nice nose. Color i dark deep inky purple. Also get a dark chocolate off the nose but overall you can just tell its a very powerful nose. Taste of cedar, tobacco, and very strong gripping tannins. This is a very nice wine for 17.99 and its a definite recommended wine. I am starting to believe this cuvee alexander level is a stellar buy. Really beautiful wine. Nice big bodied with long finish.

I cannot think of another Merlot produced anywhere in the world that consistently comes close to this qualityhellip; at this price. The 1996 Cuveacute;e Alexandre boasts a dense, opaque purple color, as well as knock-out aromatics of chocolate, and sweet black berry and cherry fruit, followed by explosive richness on the palate, low acidity, a sumptuous, lush mouthfeel, nicely integrated oak, and a layered, glycerin-enhanced finish. Drink this wine over the next 5ndash;6 years.
hellip;a joint venture between the Rabat family and the Marnier-Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier); the wine is made under the guidance of Michel Rolland, the consultant from Pomerol; and the Cuvee Alexander Merlot, the best of Lapostollersquo;s wines, is stunning. The rsquo;95 is generous and elegant, a combination rarely achieved outside of Bordeauxrsquo;s best properties. Packed with the flavor of fresh cherries, itrsquo;s clean and finely textured.
With its second outstanding Merlot vintage in a row, this winery is quickly emerging as one of Chilersquo;s leaders in red wines. Owner Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle and consulting winemaker Michel Rolland have created a state-of-the-art winery in the up-and-coming Colchagua region and are perfecting a lush, international style that is taking local fruit to world-class levels.
Superb old-vine fruit and stellar winemaking combine in this luscious red from Lapostolle. Michel Rolland has translated the best of Chilean terroir into a style that needs no explanation. Itrsquo;s deep, dark and delicious, with a sheen of new oak glistening over the dense core of fruit. And the fruit is taut enough to put up a fight with the oak through a long, earthy finish. For three vintages in a row, this has been among the very best reds made in Chile. Watch for a new red from Lapostolle, positioned above the Cuveacute;e Alexandre, to be released next year.
Glimpses of smoke and cassis give way to a thick, dense and extracted Merlot with ripe currant and boysenberry flavors. Itrsquo;s all harnessed by a tannic shell thatrsquo;s ripe and well-sculpted and needs a little time to unwind. Best after 2000.
This well-integrated Chilean red boasts rich flavors and a good backbone of fine tannins. Itrsquo;s thick and plush, with loads of dark plum, blackberry, currant and dark chocolate flavors that linger on the finish. Delicious now, but has the stuffing to age well, too. Drink through 2001.
Right away this wine smells of good black fruit with mild earth and herbal accents. It's dark, sultry and pure, with black cherry, plum and cassis all vying for attention. While dark fruit is the star here, there's also good balance, mouthfeel, depth and herbal offsets. In the end it's about as good as you're going to get in under-$15 Merlot from Chile or anywhere.
Casa Lapostolle has been founded by the Marnier Lapostolle family from France and the Rabat family from Chile in 1994, through Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, her husband Cyril de Bournet and Don José Rabat Gorchs. Today, Casa Lapostolle is 100% owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle group. The Marnier Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier, are known for producing spirits and liqueurs, but the family has been also involved in winemaking for generations. Originally winegrowers in the Loire Valley, the Marnier Lapostolle continue this vintner tradition today as owners of Chateau de Sancerre. The Cuvée Alexandre wines come from the Atalayas Vineyard in Casablanca, which is located on slopes facing different directions. This gives a great complexity once all the different parcels have been assembled into the final blend. This Cabernet Sauvignon offers up intense black fruit aromas, blackcurrant and cassis combined with light touches of cider tobacco and Herbs de Provence. Sweet spices return at the finish to add complexity. Well balanced structure and a long finish.
