More redux, light grassy top note, little sweet toasty spice, plummy, spicy with a hint of sweet spices and a suggestion of pepper. Soft on the palate and loose, aromatic in the mouth. Nice violet, mulberry fruit. Perfumed up front then not a huge finish, juicy on the back end. 85pts

WineMaker's Tasting Notes: Color: Deep violet color with purple hints. Nose: Intense and complex nose full of aromas: white pepper and red fruit at the start, then prunes and black cherries with some hints of sweet spices. Palate: Juicy tannins with soft structure and balance; fresh fruit flavors at the finish. Service and Food Pairing: Serve from 16° C (60° F) to 18° C (64° F). The ideal companion for pastas, pork and grilled red meat.

A perennial Best Buy Cab. The nose is smoky and rock-solid, with clean berry fruit and muscle. The palate is lively and secure, with balance, firm tannins, proper acidity and a tasty mix of cocoa, herbs and berry fruit. Finishes on the spot.

92 points and a "Smart Buy," Wine Spectator: "Quite toasty, with cocoa powder and espresso notes up front, followed by muscular macerated currant and fig fruit flavors mingling with a maduro tobacco hint. The long, fleshy finish has a nice graphite edge lurking underneath. Needs to settle in, but should age nicely. Drink now through 2010. 800 cases made." (06/09)

The 2010 Cuvee Alexandre was #68 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2012. The winery is 100% gravity-fed spanning six levels. This rare vertical design allows the wine to flow naturally downward during every stage of the production, avoiding the need to pump, which can adversely affect the subtle flavours of the wine.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense purple color with an expressive nose of fresh red and black fruit along with tobacco and cedar balanced by soft tannins, ending with a charming finish. The ideal companion for pastas, pork and grilled red meat.Chilean Cabernets represent a *very good value* when compared to their higher priced cousins from Bordeaux and Napa. Intense and expressive nose with garnet and fresh red fruit, but yet elegant with subtle sweet spiced from well integrated oak. *Casa Lapostolle "Cuvee Alexandre" Apalta Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon made the Wine Spectator Top 100 with their previous vintage.*
