Food Pairings for Laphroaig 10year Islay In Tube
I knew was an Islay type of person the moment I tasted Laphroaig in an Edinburgh pub. The smoke, the peat, the tang of salt and iodine, barley grown in a damp, brackish clime. A fishy oiliness on the aftertaste. Nothing on earth captures subtle flavors quite like liquors. The best don't just taste like something, they evoke a place and time. It really tasted like I was in a windswept thatched hut by the sea with a peat fire on the hearth. Sublime. This one is usually used in blends because of its boldness, but I like character in my liquors. I like laphroaig on its own. Good in winter with cod liver or smoked fish.
