External Reviews for Laphroaig 10 Year
This is truly a love it or hate it whisky. This malt blows your palate away with flavors of motor oil, seaweed, burning wood, and creosote. What's not to love?
A much tamer and more elegant older sibling of the standard Laphroaig bottling. For those times when you need your peat with a little more finesse.
Medium body. On the palate, seaweedy and salty, with medicinal fragrance on the nose. Round and very dry on the finish
Color: Rich bright goldNose: Mildly smoky, toasty and pleasantly sweet, like new hayPalate: Zesty oak and warm peat smoke top notes, with sweet undertones, reminiscent of fresh nutmeg and toasted almonds. Faintly salty.Finish: Prolonged resonance, mellow and utterly distinctive
Laphroaig is matured in seasoned oak barrels, charred before filling to impart a slight sweet vanilla nuttiness. Adding a little water releases a rich aroma of peat smoke with some sweetness and strong hints of the sea.
Full golden appearance. Medium bodied. Reminiscent of salt, iodine, peat, smoke. A fragrant nose of medicinal peat and heather leads an oily feeling palate with a big kick of iodine and seaweed flavors racing through the finish. Essence of Islay, and not for the faint hearted.(tastings.com)
