Lanson Vintage Collection 1988

Winemaker's Notes:

*94 points* John Gilman (View From the Cellar)"The 1988 Lanson Vintage Collection bottling is really singing at the present time, with the beautiful nose showing just a bit more complexity and vibrancy than the very, very good 1990 version that preceded it at our tasting. The nose jumps from the glass in a blaze of apple, orange zest, pear, superb minerality, plenty of smokiness and a nice touch of sea salts in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and still very racy in profile, with a rock solid core, lovely focus and grip, pinpoint bubbles and a very long, complex and seamless finish. The 1988 Lanson is now drinking beautifully out of magnum, but it is still early days for this wine and it may yet improve with further bottle age. 2016-2050."
