Langoa-Barton St.-Julien 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"This tastes more like a Pauillac than a St.-Julien with its big, beefy, tannic overlay and aromas and flavors of black currants, asphalt, leather, and damp earth. Tannic, full-bodied but almost impenetrably closed and broodingly backward, this is a long-term prospect for those with patience." Robert Parker

this wine was sampled over a several hour period while in the decanter. At first this wine seems elegant, and quite tight, as it opens it reveals a nose of smokey fruits and meats, tar, leather, spice, black cherries and great length. After the 6 hour mark this wine opened, became multi dimensional, and gained much body, was quite big, and had super length. I was stunned by this wine. Beautiful. Perhaps my favorite 2006 from bordeaux.

This classically made, dense purple-hued wine exhibits enormous potential, but currently it is forebodingly backward, dense, and broad. Once again, proprietor Anthony Barton delivers a wine with super... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Leoville-Barton 6000ml

There's a great dark color to this, with intense aromas of cedar, wood, new leather and crushed blackberry. Full-bodied, with loads of fruit and a firm, powerful palate. Long and mouthpuckering. A muscular baby. Best after 2015. 18,750 cases made Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Leoville-Barton 1500ml

Very balanced and pretty, with violet and currant. Full and silky. Gorgeous. Harmonious. —J.S. Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Leoville-Barton 3000ml

Much like its more famous sibling, Leoville Barton, the 2006 Langoa Barton is a heady, ripe, dense, tannic, powerful wine possessing a deep ruby/purple color as well as aromas of underbrush, damp eart... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Langoa Barton 1500ml

Good bright ruby-red. Pretty aromas of black cherry, cassis, tobacco leaf, minerals, licorice and violet. Chewy, rich and deep, with good dense mid-palate fruit and excellent concentration. Fuller and sweeter than the Langoa. Finishes long and deline... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Leoville-Barton 3000ml

The nose is restrained but very intense and concentrated and of stunning class. The wine is very closed on the palate with remarkable texture and a core of fruit. Powerful tannins conceal the wine and hold it together. This will be long lived. Robert Parker 95. Tasted from barrel April '07.
