Langmeil Shiraz 2006

External Review:

Ripe, round and expressive. A complex range of flavors hang easily on a sleek frame, with cherry, boysenberry, roasted red pepper and savory accents that play themselves out harmoniously. This finishes well, but not quite as expressively as it might.... Wine Spectator. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2005 Langmeil Winery Shiraz The Freedom 750ml

Gorgeous raspberry ganache and spice aromas give way to richly layered but silky smooth notes of boysenberry, blackberry, mocha, mineral and tar. Long, pure beam of fruit resonates through the finish. Fantastic purity and finesse for the vintage. Best from 2007 through 2025.

The finest offering in this portfolio is the 2002 Shiraz Freedom. Fashioned from yields of 1.5 tons of fruit per acre from a head-pruned Shiraz vineyard planted in 1844 (believed to be the oldest Shiraz producing vineyard in Australia), it spent 24 months in 90% French and 10% American oak. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by a rich, sumptuous perfume of blackberries, asphalt, pepper, earth, and a touch of truffles. Full-bodied, with great intensity, a big, chewy mouthfeel, and a large, nearly oversized finish, this spectacular 2002 possesses 14.5% alcohol. It should drink well for 15+ years.
