L'Angevin Russian River Pinot Noir 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the L'angevin Pinot Noir Russian River 2006 : NVWE NOTES: This is an elegant and distinctive Pinot, with scents of smoke, bouillon, black tea, caramel, forest floor earthiness and sweet tobacconist-shop spice. It is drier and racier, if just as savory, on the palate, with a supple texture and similar flavors. As the wine airs, it grows more citric, as boysenberry, red plum and cherry fruit comes to the surface. Certainly delicious right now and now especially tannic, it is a wine that will show positive evolution over the next 12-24 months.WINEMAKER NOTES: We have thoroughly enjoyed producing Chardonnays from different appellations and vineyards, allowing the wines to be a reflection of their growing site as presented through our artisan winemaking. In 2006, we crafted two Pinot Noirs: this selection from the Russian River Valley has a more traditional and feminine character when compared to our Sonoma Coast offering. Fresh black cherry, bergamot, mint, and tea leaves highlight the refined aroma profile. This wine is delicately smooth in the mouth and supplies plenty of beautiful fruit from start to finish. L'Angevin began as a joint venture between Alan Peirson and Robbie Meyer who met at Peter Michael Winery where Robbie was the enologist and assistant winemaker, and Alan was the estate/project manager. Joining the venture in 2002, making L'Angevin an entirely family business are Lesley Warner-Peirson and Shannon Meyer. This year brings new changes to our L’Angevin label. We are entering into a partnership with the owners of the Laughlin Vineyard. The L’Angevin label will become the home for the wines we produce from the Laughlin Family Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Our long-term goal is for L’Angevin to be an estate grown and bottled program. Our Charles Heintz Chardonnay and Sonoma Stage Vineyard Pinot Noir formerly under the L’Angevin label have moved over to our Peirson Meyer label. Only the label has changed for these wines; what is inside the bottle continues with the same care, attention, and artisanal winemaking we have brought to you with each previous vintage. Read less
