Langetwins Red Bordeaux Blend Lodi Midnight Reserve 2009

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Lots of wood on the nose nearly overwhelming the hints of some sour fruit and a Little tomato paste accent. While this enters the mouth round and juicy with a soft feel the tannins build on the palate, fine grained and small but dry with a bit of a woody feel supporting black berry fruit which gains a touch of plum, some sour black cherry, and a hint coffee on the modest finish. This is rather raw and shows lots of fruit tannins as well with a little bit of heat on the finish. Should come together but today it’s a bit disjointed. 87pts

A big noseful of fresh blackberry and raspberry fruit. Flavors are fresh and ripe, full of red fruit, raspberries and cherries. It has a very imposing attack, and a shorter finish that exhibits good acidity and tannin.

Second tasting of this one - it's warm and full of deep black fruit. A little hint of molasses sweetness and a bit of green bell pepper grace the midpalate to the finish.

Chalky and inky, with very striking black fruit flavors on the mouth. It's a bit dry, and has pretty good length.

Big oafy ripe fruit on the nose with a soft spicy note. Deliciously complex notes of chocolate, cedar, oak. Moderate spice that builds to a well-balanced crescendo. Amazingly balanced.

Jam and dust on the nose. Brambly christmas spice, eucalyptus, and cedar - extremely tannic with a long silky finish. Still love it.

Very inky black wine, with powerful notes of vanilla and oak. A very smooth, silky wine with blackcurrants, black berry and mint notes. Very nice warm, round finish.

All four varietals were crafted as individual wines and allowed to mature independently in small French and American oak barrels. As each varietal imbues the wine its own signature and provides layers of unique flavors, the art is in blending these wines so they enhance without diminishing the independent varietals. Thus, the creation of this Bordeaux red wine is one of our most intricate winemaking masterpieces to date.
