Lange Estate Winery Pinot Gris "Reserve" 2007
Lange Estate Winery was the fourth producer in the United States to work with Pinot Gris and winemaker, Don Lange, was the first to produce a barrel-fermented style. Neutral oak puncheons are used to lend weight and texture to the wine while maintaining remarkably balanced acidity. This single-vineyard gem is sourced entirely from the Yamhill Vineyards on Willakenzie soils in the Yamhill-Carlton District. The nose displays hints of ripe melon, pineapple and citrus blossom while the palate shows passionfruit, ripe pear, vanilla, and anise. With its round, rich mid-palate and crisp finish, the Pinot Gris Reserve has become the flagship white wine from Lange and is consistenly among the top examples of this popular Oregon varietal.
