Lanessan 2012

Member Review by Zuiko:

Here is yet another highly rated 2010 Red Bordeaux that does not deliver. Cedar and leather nose with some plum. Lighter body style, soft tannin, austere but with a medicinal note that is not enjoyable. After tasting many 2009 and 2010 Bordeaux, I cannot agree with the famous wine writers about the quality of these vintages. Seems like corruption to me.My rating-- 81.

The color is a beautiful garnet of youth. The nose is first on the freshness, without the aggression of a Cabernet Sauvignon. Nothing too serious, because it changes very quickly on the black fruits. When shaken, the berries arrive (gooseberry, raspberry, cherry). In the mouth, acid on the fabric of the nose. Deserves to be served at 18 ° C. No alcohol nor marked by the barrel. Maturity: Drink now Maturity: The lack of rough tannins makes it a seductive wine today. Already bodied. An aging would just bring in more secondary aromas at the expense of a fruity alive.

What a disappointment....expecting more cab and was a light weight entry. Red fruit...no lingering on the palate. It got better as it warmed.

I read somewhere that the reason why Chateau Lannesan was not part of the wine ranking in France in 1855 was because the owner at the time didn't feel it was necessary to participate because their wine was good enough. What a mistake and the chateau paid the price at the bordeaux wine rankings of 1855 became an institution in themselves and almost impossible to change since. I tried some several years ago and found it to be very good, but don't have any real details to add, too long ago.

very controversial. bought 10-12 bottles after tasting the first bottle. some of those confirmed the decision, some were clearly not interesting..flat..and boring. still experimenting.

Attractive notes of cedarwood, unsmoked cigar tobacco, red and black currants and loamy soil characterize this surprisingly soft, round, medium-bodied Lanessan. Although not the superstar value it can be in certain vintages, it is still a very good M... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Lanessan 750ml

Soft and silky, with lovely fruit and a long and caressing texture. Excellent core of fruit. Solid for the vintage. An excellent Lanessan. James Suckling. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Lanessan 750ml

Ripe black currant fruit with some cedar wood, licorice and wood spice are all present in this generously endowed, concentrated, low-acid Lanessan. The tannins are silky, and the overall impression is one of elegance, plumpness and beautiful intensity. This is a sleeper of the vintage and one that should only improve over the next several years and merit an outstanding rating. It should keep for up to two decades.

Focused, with a mouthwatering tobacco edge framing the core of red and black currant and anise. A warm stone note fills out the finish, with good underlying acidity. Drink now through 2015.

Generally a St.-Julien/Pauillac-like offering, the 2009 Lanessan seems more explosive and concentrated than prior vintages. I'm not sure it is the finest I have ever tasted, but it boasts a dense purple color as well as copious creme de cassis, cedar... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
