Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Solid Chardonnay with a huge range of ingredients ... 22 different chardonnay vineyards in three different counties. The result is a rich, nutty chardonnay with very good acidity and a long finish. Caramel and vanilla in taste ... very good for this style.

A reliable winery with a realistic pricing policy, one of California's finest Chardonnays for the money is Landmark's Chardonnay Overlook. Attractive aromas of honeyed citrus, tropical fruits, and spices. Excellent acidity, a lovely texture and mouthfeel, and medium body. It represents a hypothetical blend of a classic white Burgundy and a California Chardonnay.

The twenty two separate vineyards that comprise this year's Overlook include such distinguished growers as Sangaciomo, Bien Nacido, Martinelli, and Lorenzo. All the wines in the Overlook bottling are barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts and undergo full malo-latic fermentation. The wine is aged sur lie for nine months in Burgundian barrels and racked to tanks for blending. Robert Parker scored it 90 points and said "One of California’s finest as well as realistically priced Chardonnays is Landmark’s Overlook. The 2006 exhibits classic tropical fruit, orange blossom, and citrus oil aromas along with a subtle whiff of oak in its fragrant, pure bouquet. Excellent acidity, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and a stunningly long finish result in a beautiful Chardonnay to enjoy over the next several years."

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2012 Overlook Chardonnay has a golden hue with complex aromas of lemongrass, freshly peeled grapefruit, and honeydew melon. On the palate, white peach, chalk, and lively citrus notes complete this refreshing wine. This wine is ready to drink now, but will continue to develop for 2-3 years. Suggesting Food Pairings: The 2012 Overlook Chardonnay pairs well with whole roasted chicken rubbed with rosemary and lemon zest, grilled red snapper, sashimi, butternut squash ravioli, and summer salads. Native yeast fermentation. Barrel aged in French oak for 10 months. Alcohol 14.3%.
