Are there bits of diamonds in this wine? The color is a deep purple, but hold the glass up to the light and you'll see swirls of sparkles along the edges! The nose is roses and bark and perfume and pepper, making me tingle with anticipation. This is a big, gorgeous cab, full flavored and nicely structured. A good investment, lay is down for 5 years and open it on a special occasion!
At least that's what it feels like when you notice the sparkles swirling in your glass. This wine envelopes you with the scent of cloves and lavender and makes you want to share your deepest most interpersonal thoughts. The journey continues with hints of black cherry and sweet pine. I love the idea that it comes full circle as it finishes where it started with the clove and lavender dancing in your head.
2004 Lancaster Estate Nicole's Proprietary Red Winemaker's Notes Each vintage a number of our Cabernet vineyard blocks will mature to perfection, producing fruit with a definitive richness of character. From these blocks, our winemaker identifies and hand-selects grapes to craft approximately ten barrels for a proprietary bottling. Our 2004 Nicole's has ripe, extracted black cherry character, with hints of spice, chocolate and tobacco leaf, and a long, concentrated finish. 250 cases produced. 2004 Vintage Warm Temperatures in March led to an early budbreak, but a cooler spring drew out the time during bloom, giving us excellent conditions for berry set. Cool, foggy mornings in July gave way to a warm August and September. Yields were small, with dense, intense flavors. Harvest lasted from September 10 to October 16. Composition & Analysis 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot Aged 22 months in French Oak, Total acid 0.53%, pH 3.3, Alcohol, by volume 14.8% PDF (152K)
