I bought this bottle of wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/29258 for £5'50. In the 1950,s 16 wines of Graves were classified as Grand Cru as a marketing exercise and this included Chateau Bouscaut red and white. In 1987,however the northern part of what was the Graves appellation including Chateau Bouscaut and most of the more prestigious properties became the Pessac-Leognan appellation. The Chateau Bouscaut estate dates back to the 16th century but in 1980 it was acquied by Lucien Lurton whose family own several Bordeaux properties. The wine consists of 55% merlot,40% cabernet sauvignon and 5% malbec and spends 18 months in oak.I opened my bottle the other day to accompany my roast chicken dinner and I have to say that I was impressed. There is an intense fruit [think cherries, blackcurrants and liquorice] taste and yet it is very easy-drinking.In short it is absolutely gorgeous

Deep ruby color with rims turning to garnet, good nose of intense and developing flavor of blackcurrant, smoke, blackberry and liquorice. Good acidity to keep the wine lively, with high but round tannin, medium+ body, medium intensity and blackberry, smoke, blackcurrant palate of good length. Good quality and can be kept for a few more years to further develop.
