Lamoreaux Landing Riesling Finger Lakes Semi-Dry 2010
Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:
Lovely light hand here with floral notes and granite mineral spice tones greeting the nose. There’s some sweet, peachy fruit here along with a faint touch of red fruit. Noticeably sweet in the mouth though held together well with nice, tense acids. The fruit has an edge of bitter apple to it adding to the tension in the mouth. Really lovely mouthfeel, a bit round from the sugar but nervous as well with fine apple and light peach fruit tones that are rich and precise and drive out over the moderately long finish. The finish shows some subtle mineral and woodsy/stemmy tones before the sugar reapplies the fruit. Lovely effort. 88pts

Off-dry, but with excellent focus to the fig, Jonagold apple and brioche notes that all push nicely through the medium-weight finish. A twinge of minerality keeps it all fresh and driven. Delicious.

Bitter lime peel and an elegant steeliness give structure to the sweet, fresh apples that dominate this off-dry style Riesling. Bright lemon-lime acidity leads to a mouthwatering pucker on the finish.

Open-knit, with fresh-cut lime and green apple notes, backed by hints of anise and fennel. Shows nice persistence. Drink now.

A light, breezy style, with modest green apple and green fig notes that lead to a friendly finish. Drink now.

Fresh, with good cut to the lime zest, kiwifruit and green apple notes, followed by an open-knit finish. Drink now.

This leads with a broad, clean scent, accents of caramel and turbinado sugar adorning ripe pear; the flavors are generous and round, with good body, and shored up by bright acidity.
