June 2007
- Made from 50% Merlot and 50% Sangiovese grown in varied estate vineyards in the Panicale area of Umbria. The grapes were harvested in September and October and vinified in tank. After fermentation, the wine was aged in Nevers and Allier barrels for 12 months. Campoleone is deep purple in color with intense aromas of wild berries. It explodes on the palate with loads of fruit, big structure and lots of fine tannins that insure the wine''s aging potential. Despite its structure, the wine exhibits the signature soft touch of Riccardo Cotarella.
