Lamadoro Bianco Salento 2010
Winemaker's Notes:
These wines are made by Filippo Baccalaro, who, along with Valentino Sciotti, is part of the team that makes Vesevo and Gran Sasso. And as with those other wines, the Lamadoro wines are clean, bright and modern expressions of Pugliese wines. The Salento Bianco, a blend of Verdeca and Sauvignon, is unoaked with lovely zip and freshness, while the Primitivo is forward, fresh and juicy. The co-operative‘s vineyards planted on the sandy, lighter soils close to the sea are used for this wine, producing fresh, light white wines. Bianca Salento is an excellent example of the quality of Lamadoro wines. Light yellow in colour, with golden lights, the Lamadoro Bianco is unoaked and fresh, with lovely perfumes of ripe peach and passionfruit on the nose. On the palate, it is clean and lively, with great balance. A superb wine to pair with butternut squash salad, vegetable lasagne or creamed chicken.
