What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Winemakers Notes

Ripe cherry and raspberry flavors intertwine with spices of white pepper and cinnamon leading to a bright and lingering finish.

Editorial Reviews

Restrained and tight with a core of meaty, soy tinged jerky, black pepper and toasty oak aromas with a touch of pine resin embedded in a subtle roast black cherry fruitiness. Rather restrained in the mouth as well with a bit of drying, woody tannin poking out. There is a nice core of cherry fruit here with spice note that lean towards licorice and cedar with a streak of vanilla that runs through the wine and leads to a bit of a pomegranate and wild cherry tone on the brief finish. 86pts

Reviews

Syrupy, honied nose reminiscent of pound cake with a side of strawberries. Rich and creamy red fruit flavors with bright acidity, a bit of black pepper and a nice meaty finish.

Ripe fruit, perfect amount of heat, spicy and sweet like chinese food. The body is strong and smooth, and the finish is long. Very satisfying.

Vanilla and candied cinnamon on the nose. Gritty but delicate blackberries and spice with a meandering fruity finish that doesn't want to let go. Love it.
