Lagavulin 16 Yr Distillers Edition Single Malt Scotch 2012
Had this during a trip in Brussels. I went back instantly to survivalsessions years ago in the Belgian woods. Smokey, peaty, lots of flavors are battling to be recognized, smoothand impressive. Not everbody's friend I guess but it seems I'm a sucker for the Islay's whiskys..

Powerful, peat-smoke aroma. Robustly full bodied, well-balanced and smooth with a slight sweetness on the palate.
Double Gold San Francisco Spirits Competition. Rich on the palate with hints of sherry, the finish is long and smooth.
Full amber in color with adominant sherry nose. Full-bodied yet smooth. The dryness is offset by the sweetness of the sherry character. Salty notes and a huge powerful peaty finish.
Deep golden amber. Outstanding aromas fill the glass with smoky peat, Sherry wood and sea salt. Extraordinarily perfumed. Moderately full-bodied with a viscous mouthfeel. A sweet Sherry note on entry and complex dry peaty flavors lingering on the finish. A sumptuous combination of luxurious mouthfeel and assertive flavors and aromas.(tastings.com)
