The cool climate of Seneca Lake, combined with the expertise of winemaker Tim Miller and the commitment of winery owner Dick Reno, makes for a top notch portfolio of wines. One of their best is the Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, a wonderful expression of the classic grape of Burgundy and California, yet grown only a couple of hours away in Hector, New York. The 1998 vintage offers up vanilla, Bartlett pear and a delicate touch of citrus fruit, balanced with a bit of sweet oak. Try this wine and have yet another reason to "Uncork New York."
Lovely straw gold in color with sweet oak aroma. Mouthfilling vanilla bean and tropical flavors add a buttery texture to this exquisitely balanced classic.
Chateau Lafayette Reneau purchases the most oak barrels of any winery in the Finger Lakes area. Winemaker Tim Miller utilizes Missouri oak in the creation of the barrel fermented Chardonnay. This imparts a full, yet smoother mouthfeel. With toasty oak and citrus fruit flavors, this is sure to be one of your favorite chardonnays.
Chardonnay; seeking lover of wine who enjoys a balanced Chardonnay that is not overbearing and will mingle well with a variety of foods in any situation. I exhibit overtones of pear and peach, with a hint of butterscotch that showcases the softer side of my personality, all paving the way for long-lasting enjoyment.
Chardonnay, along with Riesling, is one of the most popular white wines produced in New York State, and Chateau Lafayette Reneau is at the forefront of this production. The 2006 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is well-balanced, with a touch of vanilla and nutmeg on the palate. Oak aging in barrels renders this wine silky, with a heavy body and a smooth mouthfeel. The finish lingers with hints of lemon and herbs.
Savory oak aroma with vanilla and cinnamon undertones. Barrel fermentation lends to the generous and silky mouthfeel. Wonderful lemony-crisp, satisfying, well-balanced finish.
