Lachini Il Mulinello Red Blend Klipsun Vyd. Red Mt 2006
Member Review by Matt Walker:
At six years old this wine is still quite young and closed off owing to some serious red mountain structure. After a day, the wine opened to show red currants, clove, pencil lead, and chocolate. High but fine tannins with decent acidity. Definitely one for the cellar.

The inaugural release of a classic, Bordeaux-inspired red blend, sourced from one of Washington State’s top vineyards, Klipsun. Grapes from the oldest block of Cabernet Sauvignon (planted in 1984) are 47% of the blend, along with Merlot planted in 1990 and a dash of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine was aged 24 months in 50% new French oak barrels. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this wine 91 points saying “Rough, round and ravishing, this is a rock ‘n’ roll red that takes no prisoners. The Klipsun/Red Mountain tannins and power are there in abundance, but the edges have been smoothed, the balance is perfect, and the fruit is pure and expressive. This wine resonates out from a core of pure cherry/berry; it lingers and expands into a lush rainbow of strawberry and earth.” Very Limited!
