Food Pairings for Labouré-Roi Beaujolais Nouveau
Interesting wine. The aromatics to me feel more reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc than Chardonnay (Chardonnay in Sauvignon Blanc clothing). Very bright flavors with herbal and slightly floral notes. Just a hint of toasty butter from the oak.
Of all the nouveau for 2009 that I was able to find, this was the best. It beats out the Drouhin and Dubouef because it's a little meatier and got more depth and backbone to it for a young beaujolais.
Pleasant and smooth. Light, but by no means boring or not complex. For the price, this is a very good Beaujolais and it is versatile enough to pair with several different types of dishes.

Laboure-Roi is the biggest Burgundy producer you never heard of, producing wines from every part of the appellation from Grand Cru to Villages. Proprietor Armand Cottin is a true champion of Macon wines. So much so that the local growers have nicknamed him "the Saint' which is where the St. Armand name comes from. This Macon-Village is one of their most popular wines. 100% Chardonnay from the southern part of the region; Pouilly Fuisse is one of the villages in the Macon. No oak aging and full malolactic fermentation emphasize the bright charming fruit character. Apple and floral aromas dominate the nose and on the palate the wine is refreshing with good forward fruit, nutty hints and balanced acidity. Always a Best Buy and now ON SALE!
New Releases: France/ Sleep and racy, offering lemon, yellow plum and grass notes. This is austere on the finish, but has persistence, so give it some time to find its balance.
