Food Pairings for La Tourtine-domaine Tempier Bandol Aoc Red Provence Mourvèdre Cinsault Grenache
This is probably the finest rosé in the world. Certainly it is one of the finest. It is dry, elegant and great for just sipping or with food, especially Mediterranean cuisine and most any pork. I've been drinking it for many years, having happened upon it in Cannes. It is hard to find and skews to the pricey side of rosé wines, but it is well worth the trouble and expense. If you persist in harrumping that rosé is always mediocre, you are woefully wrongheaded and you are probably confusing rosé with white Zinfandel or some similary awful pink wine. The Domaine Tempier is excellent, period, not just for a rosé. Serious wine drinkers have already discovered it and have pushed the price up substantially. However, after a huge leap in price last year in an ill-fated attempt to gouge the wine's loyal fans, the price of the the just-released 2008 has come down a bit, proving that even a fantastic wine can't command truly outrageous pricing. But at $30 or so a bottle, the Tempier is not at all overpriced.
