La Sorpresa Chardonnay Sonoma/Carneros(2005)

Our 2005 "La Sorpresa" Chardonnay is a knockout follow-up to the classic 8 gold medal winning 2004. Grown primarily on the Amaral block of the Sangiacomo Vineyard, the wine undergoes 100% barell fermentation, 100% malo-lactic fermentation and ageing "sur lee" (on the spent yeasts). Excellent Carneros fruit is the secret to the ripe pear, pineapple and lemon zest flavor profile. A soupcon of smoke and spice from 11 months in quality French oak completes the picture.
