Inky black plum hue, aromas of black fruits and seared meats; flavor notes of black currants, boysenberries and gamey spices to a graceful, structured finish.
External Reviews for La Sirena Syrah Napa Valley Barrett Vineyard
Th wine has very deep ruby red color with aromas of ripe black plums, pomegranate, mineral, spice, and pepper. Flavors match the aromas but with textural chewy tannins in the mid-palate. This is quite a hearty big red that is begging for grilled meats.
La Sirena is the personal project of Heidi Barrett, the well-known wine consultant who’s client list includes Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Grace Family, Vineyard 29, David Arthur, Showket, Rubicon and many more. All the wines at La Sirena are hand-made, small production lots made with great care with the highest quality in mind. This Syrah was sourced f1o her own vineyard in Calistoga at north end of Napa Valley. Robert Parker scored it 92 points and said "The 2005 Syrah Barrett Vineyard is a meaty, earthy, Northern Rhone-styled effort displaying notions of tapenade, pepper, bouquet garni, and sweet black fruits along with moderate tannin and a long finish. This will be the least accessible of this trio in its youth as well as the longest-lived. Anticipated maturity: now-2015."
