Add your reviewWow--this wine has great color (still looks young), powerful aromas that you'd expect with a terrific California Cab, great balance, and a long, long finish. I can only hope the 2003s are as good since those are the only La Sirena Cabs I have left, I think.
Tobacco, cassis, a lasting liquor on the palate without my usual bugbear for California Cabernet's--namely either overextraction or hiding a myriad of sins behind a wall of oak. Heidi Barrett made her name as Screaming Eagle's winemaker, but her own label shows a much more agile touch. Our flagship wine, the king of Napa Valley varietals is what Heidi Barrett does best. A Cabernet Sauvignon of great depth, distinction, and elegance, with the purity of fruit and amazing balance for which Heidi's wines are known.
Gorgeous deep ruby color with a profound nose of black cherry, currants, ripe wild blackberries, a touch of cinnamon and spice, accented lightly by sweet toasty French oak. A very pure, layered wine, silky mouthfeel with bursts of flavor that mirror the aromas. The texture and balance are beautiful with very light chewy refined tannins and overall structure that will lend itself well to additional cellaring. Absolutely yummy!
it is a powerful, dry, rich, fleshy effort boasting loads of cassis fruit intermixed with sweet barrique smells. It should keep for 10-15 years
Having put on weight since last year, it is a powerful, dry, rich, fleshy effort boasting loads of cassis fruit intermixed with sweet barrique smells. It should keep for 10-15 years.
Medium-deep ruby. Riper aromas of black cherry, licorice, minerals, spicy oak and menthol. Silkier and denser than the '98, but still on the hard side, with strong acidity and slightly green-edged blackberry and licorice flavors. Finishes with rather... Stephen Tanzer.
