La Segreta Rosso Planeta Cuvee Rot 1 Wein Italien Sizilien Rot 2008
Planeta is now a world famous Italain producer. Planeta wines represent a journey through the whole of Sicily. The company now has 390 hectares in four different areas of Sicily. La "Cantina Grande" (Main Winery) is at "Dispensa" in Menfi also, it is the most recent and devoted entirely to the white and red La Segreta wines (based on Grecanico and Nero d'Avola grapes respectively) and to the Rose, one hundred per cent Syrah. In the La Segreta Rosso the three varietals were all harvested and vinified seperately in order to facilitate maximum complexity, Merlot and Syrah at the end of August and Nero D'Avola at the end of September. The wine is a ruby colour with purple hues. Aromas of crushed strawberries and spice are on the nose with a soft, silky palate, supple tannins and fresh acidity that is rich and concentrated showing a hint of chocolate and a long, elegant finish. A large range of dishes complement the characters of this wine, like pasta dishes, grilled meat or even fish soup.

Delicious, vibrant red with bright cherry, floral and berry character and a hint of milk chocolate. Medium-bodied, with light tannins and a fresh finish. Yummy. Nero d'Avola, Merlot, and Syrah. Drink now.
The 2002 Le Segreta Rosso, Nero d'Avola with Merlot and Syrah, a bright ruby in color, offers raspberry and red currant fruit, a slight herbaceousness, and a refreshing, light to medium-weight profile. It is a wine for early drinking.
Ripe and heady, with aromas of crushed cherry and berry jam. Tons of red fruit flows on the palate, and the result is a basket of unbridled, acid-jolted flavor. Finishes full, fruity and doused with chocolate. Very good as an everyday red.
Brilliant dark ruby color; the nose expresses intense aromas of fig, dark cherries, black plum and raspberry. On the palate, a soft, ripe fruit quality, full and lingering, supported by soft tannins. A wine well matched with red meat and cheese.
Good full, bright red. Intriguing nose melds black- and red currant, minerals and pepper, along with an exotic suggestion of curry powder. Sweet on entry, then firm and stylish in the middle palate, with noteworthy complexity of flavor. Lively and light on its feet. Finishes with firm-edged tannins that avoid dryness.
The estatersquo;s 2008 La Segreta Rosso offers up bold fruit, spices and sweet herbs in a big, rustic style. This hearty, tasty red is best enjoyed at the dinner table. La Segreta Rosso is 50% Nero drsquo;Avola, 25% Merlot, 20% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Franc, and is aged in steel. Anticipated maturity: 2009ndash;2011.
Lots of plummy, chocolaty fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and a flavorful finish. Delicious already. Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Syrah. Drink now.
