La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

"Wine Spectator 94: Intense aromas of crushed blackberry and vanilla follow through to a full-bodied palate, with silky tannins and a long, refined finish. Best after 2009. 1,250 cases made. (JS) Tanzer 89: Deep red. Very ripe, slightly roasted aromas of berries, pipe tobacco and licorice, lifted by a wild floral nuance. Rich, concentrated and superripe, with very sweet flavors of marzipan and cherry cola. Fleshy and fat but nicely framed by good ripe acidity. Finishes with big, sweet, chewy tannins. A bit unrefined but a large mouthful of Brunello.(7/06) "

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
