In contrast to the relatively open nose of the Bressandes, the Clos du Roi is brooding, reserved and somber though the most black and dark berry fruit aromas are ripe and spicy and this spice character continues onto the rich, power and robust flavors that are supported by a balanced core of sap and an extremely firm but not hard core of tannins. This is a big wine yet it remains relatively refined and is clearly built for the long haul.

intense aromas of black raspberry, fresh raw meat, cedar, praline, and cinnamon. Exhibits a polished, refined, juicy, clear-fruited and sweetly marrowy palate, to its refined tannins and chalky, meaty, darkly-fruited finish. I'd revisit this in 5-7 years and anticipate considerable positive evolution thereafter.
