La Posta Malbec Mendoza Pizzella Family Vineyard 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

90 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): The 2010 Malbec Pizzella Family Vineyard also spent 14 months in 25% new French oak. Earthy minerals, spice box, tobacco, lavender, and black cherry compose the nose of this elegant, nicely proportioned, lengthy red that also offers outstanding value. It will provide considerable pleasure over the next 5-6 years. (Dec 2011)

If you get Angel talking, plan to stay awhile—he will regale you with childhood stories of enemy soldiers firing bullets into his family's red wine barrels so that they could quench their thirst. And of course, he will tell you about his vineyard: very tight spacing, superficial irrigation, lime-laden soils, and Malbec grapes that make an old-timer smile. Read less
