La Poderina Brunello 2001
External Reviews for La Poderina Brunello
La Poderina's Brunello shows impressive balance between its bright fruit and sassy spice components. On the close, the wine exhibits a tight, firm and penetrating feel that is carried forth by acidity and the natural firmness of the tannins.
Incredible richness to this red, with layers of blackberry, licorice and treacle tart on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with loads of silky tannins and a long, long finish. Seductive stuff. Even better than 1997. Get it. Best after 2006.
Beautiful blackberry and spice, with hints of coffee. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a gorgeous finish. Seductive. Best after 2009.

With some air it is absolutely... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Sangiovese Grosso wine from Tuscany in Italy. 2001 La Poderina Brunello di Montalcino 750ml
Blackberries and black cherries on the nose follow through to a full body, with soft and silky tannins. Long finish. Best after 2011.
Wines produced by estates belonging to financial institutions rarely have a good reputation in Italy. The outstanding exception are those of mega-insurer SAI, and La Poderina is their Montalcino property. The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino, fresh and dark in color, shows much floral and mineral Sangiovese character in its red currant and wild cherry nose and a broad and enveloping palate, rich and smooth in texture and admirably long on the flow. Drink 2005ndash;2016.
