La Passion de la Tour Carnet Medoc 2009

External Review by WineExpress.com:

Owner Bernard Magrez is a dynamic force not just in Bordeaux be in the entire wine world. He purchased Chateau Pape Clement and transformed it from an poor overrated performer to a super star. Working closely with famed consultant Michel Rolland he amassed an array of chateaux and wineries around the world and consistently produces wines that garner adoring fans and critical acclaim. Another of his flagship wineries is the Fourth Growth Chateau La Tour Carnet. A gem of a property in the Haut-Medoc whose roots date back to the 12th century making it the oldest chateau in the Medoc region. With extensive replantings and technical upgrades by Mr. Magrez, it is now a state-of-the-art property. This wine "La Passion" is a second wine from the Estate and a rare find at that as it's from the stupendous 2009 vintage. A blend of

This wine "La Passion" is a second wine from the Estate and a rare find at that as it's from the stupendous 2009 vintage. A blend of 814% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak barrels 16 months. The wine shows a smooth, supple quality as bottle age has allowed the tannins to soften and the flavors to build. It's layered and complex with black cherry and currants, licorice and roasted coffee. Silky and lingering on the finish. It would be hard to find a Medoc '09 of this quality at any price, but this one is a steal. Don't miss it!
