La Mozza Morellino di Scansano "I Perazzi" 2016
Winemaker's Notes:
I Perazzi, the foundation of the La Mozza winery, was created to be unlike most typical Morellino di Scansano. The blend, which includes Mediterranean varieties, is more expressive and better demonstrates the potential of Maremma's terroir. I Perazzi is named after the pear-like fruit that grow on our estate and are depicted on the label.Juicy dark fruit mingles with spice and licorice on the palate. The bright, ripe cherry and soft texture makes this a natural match with fresh Mediterranean flavors and dishes. -Winery Website

Add your reviewIncredible value! Reminscent of baby Brunellos with the lively acidity and oak. I paired it with arugula and parmesan ravioli with red sauce.
It had a pretty ruby color, and a pleasant floral nose, but I found wine to be a little light for my tastes. The flavor was fruit forward with predominant notes of strawberry and plum. As the wine opened, I did get some hints of the spice and pepper that other reviews have mentioned, but not enough to add a lot of depth. I'd pair this wine with cold antipast, or marinara sauce based pasta, but nothing heavier.

Dark berries and cherries notes are mixed with black licorice tones. This wine is very soft, gentle, balanced and a true crowed pleaser. Great with tomato based pasta sauces and pizzas.

According to the Wine Advocate: The 2008 Morellino di Scansano I Perazzi is a pretty, mid-weight offering. Red cherries, dried flowers and licorice are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. Like so many wines in this vintage, the Perazzi is a touch lighter in body than is typically the case, but the wine s overall sense of balance and harmony are as strong as one can reasonably expect in 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
