Very smooth wine; almost earthy like a pinot noir which was surprising but had nice body soft tannins and a clean finish.
La Magia is one of the most exciting projects in Tuscany today, investment in the cellar and a revolution in the vineyards initiated in 1997 is transforming the beautiful estate into one of Montalcino's hottest properties. When owner, Harald Schwarz met Roberto Cipresso he invited him to help take La Magia's wines to the next level of quality that its physical location already promised. The combination of the two personalities - Roberto's flamboyance tempered by Harold's more conservative nature - is one of the keys to the success of the estate. The wine is a bold effort, a dark rich plum colour, showing little signs of its age, in the glass it has plenty of glycerin "legs" and on the nose it offers plenty of complexity; spices, kirsch, tar, liquorice. On the palate its rich and velvety nose follows through into a full bodied and complex wine whose tannins are softening, it is drinking well now, and my guess it is good for another 10 - 15yrs
