Spread out over 38 villages, Beaujolais Villages accounts for 25% of the total viticultural production of the Beaujolais area. A certain amount of this wine can be bought as Beaujolais Nouveau. Beaujolais village is generally a red wine, but excellent rosés can also be found in the region. The vineyards are located in Jullié, a small village near Juliénas. The soil composition there is blue granite and clay. Because of its extremely fruity and smooth nature, Beaujolais Villages is easy and pleasant to drink, and therefore best consumed young. However, you can easily keep it for three years or longer.
