Light and fruity. A great everyday wine for just $6!
I think sometimes people expect a bit too much when they buy an inexpensive wine. That said, no matter how much I spend, I still expect the wine to be enjoyable. I paid about $7 for the La Loggia Barbera and while it didn't bowl me over, it was pleasant and drinkable. Nice fruit, pleasant aroma and OK though short finish. And no fake or candy kind of flavors which you sometimes get with inexpensive wines. This would be a good summer BBQ wine where a light, easy-drinking red would fit the bill.
Barolo 2007 TJ. Weak and mild flavor. not great
I will admit this wine has a "lighter" flavor compared to other reds, which is why I appreciate it. It's very versatile and goes great with seafood and hearty vegetarian dishes.
I enjoyed this wine for the price. It had a smaller bouquet, with some dark fruit, roasted pork smell, dark pepper spice and almost a rhubarb. At first when I tasted it, i found it fairly flat, with mild fruit, some pepper spice and a short finish. But left to breath a little in the glass, and it definitely opens up a bit. A nice ripe cherry fruit comes through, with a slightly longer silky mouth feel and a pleasing light pepper finish. I enjoyed it with some brie and garlic toast, and for 6.99 it turned out a very good buy.
Love this wine- as a broke college student and someone who has lived in France on the cheap, this is a bottle worth picking up at Trader Joe's and enjoying some good cheese with. Nothing too fruity, smokey or harsh about it... and I don't usually drink too many cheap reds. Recommended by my friend's Parisian mother!
Nice overall medium bodied wine. The cherry is constantly evolving and hints of herbs. Went great with more intense flavored chinese food. Not sure I would enjoy this wine by itself, works very well with food.
